About me

I am an artist, a former urban planner and lover of paper goods. I live in the leafy and quaint suburb of Victoria Park where you’ll often find my husband Eric and I on our front porch. I work out of my home studio which is often scattered with tiny scraps of paper from current projects I have on the go and a few empty coffee cups here and there (showing an entirely different obsession!).

I’ve always considered myself a creative person and enjoyed bringing this quality to my former career in urban planning, but my true passion is visual arts which I am now fortunate to be doing full time.

My first collection, From the Bush, gave me a starting point at honing in on my unique style in what has been many months of exciting discovery. I set my sights on creating a native Australian florals calendar range that would include original artworks, giving me a subject matter I knew I’d never grow tired of and a strict 12 artwork commitment. What I underestimated was that paper cutting would be a style for me that has becoming addictively absorbing in the best way.

I get excited at every phase of the process; from sketching elements I’ll turn into cuttings, to creating an unexpected effect with the watercolour and different paper textures, to finding the perfect piece of painted paper to cut into an element that fits so neatly into my composition. My focus is often to create as much interest and depth with the paper cutting technique as possible while creating recognisable elements that show off whatever subject I am working on. I love finding the balance between the playful and fragileness of paper art.

I am so grateful that my days are now filled with colourful paper piles and scribbles of new ideas and that these projects are resonating with so many of you.
